We love the Alphablocks and it is a programme we watch a lot to try and encourage Skye’s language skills, she finds it very engaging with all the bright colours. All the children have been very fond of the programme, so with one child having delayed language and another just starting school I jumped at the chance to try out the new Alphablocks Reading Programme I jumped at the chance.
The programme, designed by phonics experts provides children with 15 Alphablocks Reading Programme magazines and Alphablocks resources aimed at stimulating children to reward their improving literacy including finger puppets, letter tiles, games and stickers, plus loads of gold stars to reward achievement. Alphablocks is published by Immediate Media Co, the leading specialist content company, who publish the UK’s leading Pre-School portfolio. The programme will be delivered in three packs over 10 months and starts with the first steps in phonics as taught in schools. The magazines and resources introduce the 26 letters and their sounds, blends, and combinations, allowing you to feel confident in helping your child get started on the exciting journey into reading.
We received the first pack a few weeks ago and have been having some fun with it, Cody who is 3 and just started full time nursery has taken a particular interest in it. The first part of the set comes with the following items.
- Workbooks 1 – 5
- 166 Stickers for completed workbook pages
- 86 Alphablock tiles
- 150 Gold Stars
- 4 Alphablock Games
- Pencil Case and Pencil
Rather than take lots of pictures I decided to make a little video showing the contents and Cody having some fun trying them out, see what he thought below in our YouTube Video.
We love the programme and its really helping Cody with his letter recognition, his Nursery Teacher has also comments that he is very knowledgeable with his letter sounds. We are looking forward to continuing his learning journey with the Alphablocks reading programme. What I really love about the programme is that it allows you to move at your own pace with your child. If you think they are struggling with a particular letter/sound you can spend more time on it. The games and letter tiles are a great resource to use along side the books. The full programme is priced at £39.99 which for the amount of materials you get over the 3 packs is more that worth it. You can buy the kit direct from the Alphablocks Website.Make sure you keep your eyes out for our review of the next package we receive.
Disclaimer: We were sent the programme FOC for the purposes of review, all opinions are my own.
