10846284_590787764388271_877172467367646853_nI was sent a lovely little biscuit design hamper from the lovely people at Jules Destrooper to make some festive biscuits with the children. I haven’t heard of Jules Destrooper biscuits before but love a good biscuit so was excited to try something new.

Driven by passion, Jules Destrooper, a colonial trader, combined the best of the spices he imported from Africa and the East with the best of nature’s ingredients. That’s how he obtained a very unique flavour for the almond thin, a delicate biscuit that was to please generations of people all over the world. In that way, in 1886, the biscuiterie Jules Destrooper was founded. Driven by the success of his product and by his natural talent, Jules Destrooper worked out his own recipe of a traditionalBelgian butter wafer, which he successfully launched on the Belgian market in 1890. In 1911 the almond thin was rewarded with the prestigious golden award on the famous food show in Paris. Jules Destrooper, motivated by this international recognition, continued his efforts to improve the quality of his products. Several other national and international awards stimulated a first selective export.

We opted to use the butter wafers to make out Christmas biscuits as they are much bigger and have plenty of room for designing. The boys didn’t need asking twice to get stuck in and began making their creations.

PicMonkey CollageI love the concentration on their faces when they are busy making, Cody really enjoyed spreading the chocolate onto the waffle base and they all kept sticking their fingers in for a taste. We had little white balls all over the floor before they had  finished and I’m still finding them 2 days later, they get everywhere!!

PicMonkey Collage1I was impressed with Cody’s creation, he did it himself apart from icing his name on which I did, my Mum even had a go and made some biscuits with the children to. The butter waffle biscuits have a lovely crunch to them but then they melt in your mouth.

PicMonkey Collage2Even Logan who is our most reluctant crafter/baker or anything that involves mess came and had a go. Obviously the best bit after all that creating was getting stuck in and trying them :)
