With the onset of winter comes the dreaded coughs and colds that the colder weather brings! Essential items to have to hand are of course medicine, hugs and kisses, not too much though as you don’t want to catch the cold ;)and a good thermometer. We already own the Braun IRT4520 in ear thermometer and we reviewed it last year. This new model is much more suited to our families needs, Skye & Logan hate having their temperature taken and they dislike things touching their ears. The Braun NTF3000 offers breakthrough technology the no touch and forehead thermometer is extremely accurate and easy to use. It measure temperature in less than 2 seconds and its the only thermometer on the market that offers the combination of both touch and non touch technology on one device. You are able to place the sensor directly on the child’s forehead or hold it upto 5cms away and be safe on the knowledge that you are getting an accurate reading every time.
The new technology captures twice as much radiated heat then a tradition forehead thermometer thanks to the optical system. There is also a silent mode so you can use it without it beeping during the night. In additional to being so accurate it also has a colour coded indicator, green is a fine temperature, orange is raised and red is high. I really like this feature as you can see instantly if your child’s temperature is normal if its green when you press it.
Compared to the previous model it much better suited to us, its does the same job of giving an accurate temperature at high speed, but I love the colour coded readings, the sleek handheld grip and the easy one touch use. The sensor even tells you if you aren’t close enough to use the non touch sensor, its prefect for the whole family. The no touch function also helps to limit the risk of spreading germs and eliminate the possibility of cross contamination. As you can see from the video above Skye didn’t even flinch when I took her temperature, she would normally run away or scream at me, especially if its the in ear thermometer, she is very sensitive to people touching her ears! The fact she wasn’t even bothered is a good sign for future use as if she didnt like it at first sight I wouldnt have got anywhere near her with it to start with!
The Braun NTF3000 retails at £52.99, which is a really good price for the piece of mind it offers when it comes to accuracy and ease of use. The fact you can use it on any family member make it a must have item. They are available to buy from Asda, Boots and all good baby specialist retailers.
